Lahore (Political Reporter) A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Bazdar in which the progress regarding the implementation of Prison Referee Merit was reviewed. Usman Bazdar while announcing the recruitment for the vacant posts in the jails of Punjab said that the recruitment process for the vacant posts in the jails should be started as soon as possible. The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to start the recruitment of medical officers in the jail hospitals as soon as possible, the medical officers in the jail hospitals would be posted in a separate cadre and special allowance would also be given to the medical officers. The Chief Minister directed to expedite the implementation of Prison Reforms Page and said that previous governments did not pay any attention to providing facilities to the prisoners and in the past the prisoners were treated like stepmothers, our government treated the prisoners as their own. Gave historic prison reform package to give basic rights, approved Rs. 500 million for providing quality food to prisoners, good food is the right of prisoners which will be given to them. The Chief Minister directed that the funds of the Jail Foundation should be utilized for the welfare of the inmates, construction of new diamonds in the jails should be expedited and installation of geysers for hot water supply to the inmates should be completed as soon as possible. To extend the duration of telephone calls for prisoners, review the payment of wages to the prisoners according to the market rate, 15 days later I will review the progress on the decisions taken in the meeting. A draft of the Prison Act 2021 has been prepared and a Prison Less Place will be set up in Lahore. In addition, a community delegation led by Provincial Minister Ijaz Alam called on Usman Bazdar at the Chief Minister's Office. The Chief Minister said that a special commission is being formed for the protection of the rights of minorities in Punjab. A draft of the Minority Rights Commission has been prepared. And in Faisalabad, Warispura has been declared a model minaret. The role of minorities in the construction and development of Pakistan cannot be ignored. Meanwhile, Usman Bazdar congratulated the nation on the successful test of cruise missile OneP outside.
